Almost three years ago, Tobi Johnson left her position as director of the SHIBA HelpLine, a statewide volunteer health benefit counseling program located in Washington State and relocated to Knoxville, Tennessee. At the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains she began her new life as a newlywed and freelance nonprofit trainer and consultant.
Tobi has created and managed nonprofit programs in the arts, employment & training, social services, and community health education in diverse communities across the US. After twenty-five years direct experience at all levels of the nonprofit sector — from unpaid volunteer to head honcho — she now helps charities make the most of volunteer support and deliver the best community value their organizations have to offer. She regularly shares tips and tools on how to promote deep volunteer engagement and realize high-quality program outcomes through Tobi’s Nonprofit Management Blog.
Tobi has a Masters Degree in Art History from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and a Bachelors Degree in Art from the University of Washington.
