Emily Hall, Consultant to Grow, is a tremendous asset to the Grow team as she has significant experience building both the marketing and fundraising capacity of nonprofits. She is an award-winning marketer with a background in digital strategy, online communications, social media as well as fundraising. As the Retail Marketing Manager at Goodwill of Greater Washington, Em blogged as the “DC Goodwill Fashionista” and was the driving force behind the groundbreaking, online “Fashion of Goodwill” campaign. Combining traditional marketing with social media and e-commerce, this campaign resulted in a 6.5% conversion rate of blog readers to online shoppers and garnered press from The New York Times, NPR, CNN, and The Washington Post, among others.
As the Web Communications Manager at the USO, Emily built the social media strategy from the ground up, increasing Facebook fans from 2,000 to 100,000 in just under 16 months. She also played an integral part in email marketing campaigns, including a 4th of July t-shirt offer that brought in $16,000 in online donations through Twitter alone.
Ms. Hall also has more traditional fundraising experience: corporate sponsorships and special events. She has supported direct mail efforts by writing copy and improving donor segmentation, in addition to managing Raiser’s Edge and Kintera databases. Currently, in addition to supporting nonprofits through consulting work, Ms. Hall is the Marketing Manager for Zipcar DC, where she is in charge of all online and offline marketing efforts for the metro area.
